iPod Classics: Randomization

Since my month-old iPod is corrupt and deleted all my songs, I created this iPod playlist on iTunes. Here's my strategy - Rock with the random feature on iTunes and add the good ish that comes up. Then, I'll be able to stock my new iPod with some heat.

So, here we have a brand new sub-segment at HFTB where I hit my faithful readership with some random gems from my collection. We'll start with Rick Ross' new jam "Maybach Music Part II" and let iTunes decide the rest..

Lost And Damned

I'm not one to usually post video game-related news, but GTA IV is one of my favorites so I gotta rep right quick.

The good folks at Rockstar Games decided to drop a bomb on gamers with Lost and Damned, a new, download-only GTA IV episode for XBox 360 gamers on February 17th. I'm not huge into video games and all that, but I played this one non-stop.

For real. Niko was just merkin' off while DJ Premier and DJ Green Lantern laced radio stations with dope hip-hop for my drives 'round Liberty City.

..Speaking of DJs, part of reason I'm writing this is 'cause the music is handled by Statik Selektah. Y'all should know him from his red-hot '08 LP Stick 2 The Script. Definitely official.

Check out the trailer below courtesy of Mick Boogie and family, and look out for GTA 4 Lost and Damned available February 17, Enjoy!

[Edit: Two trailers have hit, the first one the character is a bike thief named Malc and the second is Billy Grey, the leader of a motorcycle gang. Good looks Kotaku.]

Little Bit of Hip, Little Bit of Hop..

What up mid-day Monday! I'm back in the grind mode at work but I'm taking some time off to bless my loyal readers with some info on upcoming NYC events and some new tracks I'm feelin.

Producer and MC 88-Keys will be hosting a special performance and signing autographs at Fat Beats NYC this Thursday, the 15th. If you haven't already, you'll have the chance to cop that Death Of Adam LP and maybe even see some special guests swing thru. Good looks to Deadly Melody for the info, check the flyer up top for details.

A little further down the road on Thursday the 22nd, Jersey rep Joe Budden is performing at S.O.B.'s with the Slaughterhouse crew - Royce Da 5'9, Crooked I and Joell Ortiz. Presented by Amalgam Digital, sounds like a real dope line-up - if you want to scoop tix, get 'em right here. Shouts to knobbz at Metal Lungies for the heads up.

Don't forget about those Mos Def shows at the Blue Note, he'll be rockin 2 performances a night for 3 nights starting the 23rd.

And now, for your listening pleasure..

The One & Only

For anyone into golden era hip-hop, DJ Premier is a legend. Shit, he's one of the main reasons I got into hip-hop way back when. I mean, dude created the beats for Big's "Ten Crack Commandments," Nas' "NY State of Mind," Rakim's "When I Be On The Mic," Jay's "D'Evils" and Mos Def's "Mathematics" - all some of my favorite tracks, period.

As one half of Gangstarr and crafting neck-snapping instrumentals for hip-hop's A-List, the Houston-born and BK-bred Primo has been one of the hardest working producers ever - if not the best of all time.

That's why I gotta give major props to Eskay and Heather for posting these video clips. Peter Rosenberg interviewed Primo last night and the footage is great. The production guru sheds light on the making of "Nas Is Like," working with Biggie, Nas and Jay, and of course, porn.

I've posted the clips below - now pay your respects to one of the greats, Enjoy!

Below, we've got a boatload of heaters to get you through hump day and into the weekend festivities including two top-notch remixes. Big ups to Matt from MAC Media, Mr. X, eskay, heather, and lowkey for the hook-ups.. Enjoy!
