Kweli tells us to "download it and spread it around," so I'll do my part and share some brand new Reflection Eternal (!!) for y'all.

I'm amped to say that the classic duo of sharp-tongued lyricist Talib Kweli and trend-setting producer Hi-Tek is back in the studio, on the recording grind. Their newest track is "Internet Connection" with Bootsy Collins, a big shout out to all the blogs holding down Blacksmith Entertainment and the RE legacy.

I'm dumb tired so I'll let Kweli speak for the group's future:

Kweli and Hi-Tek are in the studio working hard on their long-awaited second album. They wanted to let all their friends online know they've linked back up, so they made this ode to technology, with a throwback funk feel to it. The legendary Bootsy Collins was chillin in the studio with Hi-Tek and wanted to jump on the song as well. This is just some different stuff to let y'all know they're on the way back.

Make sure you check them at the Blue Note with a full band in NYC on March 10th and 11th as well.

Just One Of Those Days

Sup all. I'd love to say Happy Friday but mine has been anything but. You ever get that feeling that as soon as your day is started, you feel like it's not your day at all?

After two accidents caused bumper-to-bumper traffic driving to work that impeded me from my daily Dunkin Donuts ritual, I rolled up to the office about a half hour late. I'm not focused here at work, I've got a bunch of projects but can't get my mind right. Plus, a couple of my co-workers are getting on my nerves. Just let me be, damn it.

The only thing I've got goin for me is that it's Friday and the weekend is almost here. That reminds me, I'm hoping to see Mos Def at one of his 6 shows at the Blue Note NYC this weekend. Also, I peeped this flyer up top at Notes from a Different Kitchen for a Bob Marley celebration at the Blender Theater at Gramercy on what would be his born day February 6th. All true reggae heads would appreciate this show.

Oh, and this is my 300th post, it's a celebration bitches. I haven't hooked up new tracks in a lil bit, so here's a couple. Hopefully they'll help you have a better day than me, Enjoy!

Mos Definitely A Miracle..

This is beautiful. It's at times like these when I know that someone, somewhere has got my back.

Since Mos Def sold out his show at the Highline in NYC tomorrow night (and I wasn't lucky enough to grab a ticket), he's decided to perform SIX MORE shows in the Big Apple this month. SAY WORD!

Mighty Mos will be doing 3-nights at the Blue Note, performing twice each night at 8 and 10:30 starting the 23rd through the 25th. Not just that, but he'll be backed by his regular band consisting of Robert Glasper on the keys, Chris Dave on the drums, Derrick Hodge on the bass guitar and Casey Benjamin playin' the horns.

Grant Green - Live At Club Mozambique (1971)



Grant Green, the often-overlooked soul jazz and hard bop guitarist who recorded prolifically for Blue Note in the 60's and 70's, glides effortlessly on his 1971 live disc Live at the Mozambique Club. The tracks selected here display Green's funkified licks and up-tempto improvisations.

Madlib - Studio Kinda Cloudy Vol 2 (2002)



For the final disc here in this edition, we return to the West Coast's eclectic, sample-lovin' musician Madlib. Studio Kinda Cloudy Vol 2's quirky, blunted environment leads to hazy remixes of dope hip-hop tracks (Gangstarr's "Just To Get A Rep," Fat Joe & Noreaga's "Misery Loves Company"), bugged-out relics of the art's golden era ("Make Them Clap" featuring Wildchild, "My World Primiere" featuring Peanut Butter Wolf's deceased homie Charizma), and odes to true heads ("Loopdigga" and "Variation of the Rain 8"). Definitely cool.
