Got some good stuff for y'all this morning, I woke up to some great new tracks and a quality article guaranteed to spark some discussion.

I'm working so I can't write much right now, but definitely check out the 10 Greatest Hip-Hop Battles (.. And Their Winners) by my favorite resident hip-hopper over at About.com, Mr. Adoso. He gives concise run-downs of rap's most historical beefs, ranging from Kool Moe Dee and Busy Bee's early rap battle to the Coastal feud between Biggie and Pac to the epic beef between Nas & Jay-Z.

He even goes out on a limb to give the winners, which is quite ballsy to say the least. I agree with most, the only glaring difference in our opinion is he's got Pac defeating Biggie. But that's a debate for another day..

Let's get hump day (I always laugh at that term, Ha!) started right with new tracks from Method Man & Redman featuring UGK, Q-Tip featuring Kanye & Consequence, and an acoustic remix of Yeezy's "Amazing" by Mike Maven.

Someone liberate the CDQ, ASAP please! Maybe before tomorrow so we can all play the Young Hov Remix for the inauguration? Now I really wish I didn't have work tomorrow or else I'd be making the journey to DC for Jigga's concert tonight.

Unbelievable.. Again

So, I saw Notorious last night and I was thoroughly impressed. I'm not gonna write a long-winded review or spoil anything for those who haven't seen it, just wanted to talk about my impression of the movie itself.

The acting was exceptional, Gravy did his thing as the lead and the supporting cast was very believable. The screen-writing described Big's life relatively accurately, taking some poetic liberties of course, but I found it suspenseful and emotional even for someone who knows the story. The sound direction was amazing, especially the way Gravy interpreted Big's music while the engineers spliced the actual tracks throughout the film.

Overall, I'm satisfied with Notorious. The film lived up to my personal expectations and even surprised me occasionally. I highly recommend it - I think it's a story that anyone, hip-hop head or not, can appreciate.

What a depressing-ass day in the Tri-State. With all this rain, I need some sunshine in my life. It's days like today I wish I hadn't taken off work, but since I can't go back in time I'm gonna keep y'all up on all the hotness hitting the blogosphere this morning.

Up top we've got a vid of Common performing "Universal Mind Control" on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Comm is a straight up entertainer, he controls the crowd a rocks with a veteran swag. I've seen him twice and can't wait 'til he comes back around the way.

TC over at TSS gives a dope synopsis of Christopher Wallace's rise to rap royalty and kindly provides download links to a substantial portion of Frank White's catalog. Good looks, homes!

This week flew by, whew. T.I. shut down Hammerstein Ballroom on Wednesday night with special guests Slim from 112 and Jamie Foxx. Then, I took a much-needed day off yesterday to get some shopping done and watch my alma mater's football team guarantee their 4th consecutive bowl bid, tearing Louisville a new one 63-14.

Enough chatter, let's get to the music - I've got a plethora of new songs that will help you set the weekend off properly. I'm always weary of remix tapes since some are bootleg as hellllll but you know I've gotta peep anything with Mr. West's name attached to it.

DJ Benzi & Plain Pat hooked it up properly here on Sky High: A We Got The Remix Special Edition, recruiting cats like Nick Catchdubs, A-Trak, and Stretch Armstrong among others for a collection of remixes to 'Ye's popular records. Minus a few booty rapid-speed techno/disco mixes, this tape is fresh to death and definitely worth a listen!
