Blow Ya Mind! ..A Super Woman & Dom Corleone Exclusive

Y'all ready for this? Aight, let's go.

The sweet, charming, and incomparable homie Shenda a.k.a. Super Woman were choppin it up one day about songs that we can get high to. Now before you go jumpin to conclusions, she doesn't partake in the glorious herbal indulgence. I, however, have been known to from time to time (hence the name of my blog, a play on the famous THC-laced anthem "Hits From The Bong" by Cypress Hill).

So, when we say "high," we mean getting high on whatever it is you do. Green, booze, working out, reading, or life itself, I hope you're able to get high and just feel good.

We compiled this mix to lift you to a euphoric mental state - it's got some mood-enhancing jams from all types of music. Vibe out to songs from Erykah Badu, Blackalicious, Pink Floyd, Bootsy Collins, Jay-Z, OutKast and a bunch more - so please download it and let us know what you think!

Without any further ado, we present our mix to our faithful readers... get ready to Blow Ya Mind! Enjoy!

Don't know how much y'all really care, I'm just really feelin these posters right here of Kanye, Rihanna, and of course the Martian.

The 51st Grammy's are next Sunday and will feature the first live performance of "Swagga Like Us" plus performances by Coldplay, Jennifer Hudson, Paul McCartney, and the luckiest man alive Justin Timberlake (if you don't know why, ya don't know me) among others.

You can check the full nominee list here. I'm pullin for Coldplay for Record of the Year, Weezy for Album of the Year, "Viva La Vida" for Song of the Year, "A Milli" for Best Rap Solo, "Royal Flush" for Rap Group Performance (Even tho "Swagga" is guaranteed to win), "Superstar" for Collab AND Best Rap Song, Nas for Best Rap Album, John McLaughlin for Best Contemporary Jazz Album, Pat Metheny for Best Jazz Instrumental Solo, and Brad Mehldau Trio for Best Jazz Instumental Album.

Shouts to Nigel D for the posters, Enjoy!

Economic Stimulation.. Yes Sir!

I just had to do it - It's Friday and it's payday. After reading on Bloomberg that the first estimate of real GDP growth for the 4th quarter was negative 3.8% (and I expect it probably could be worse when the Commerce Dept releases the real figures), I figured it's only right I do my part as a consumer to stimulate the U.S. economy.

I know, I know, we might be outta this recession even quicker if I keep this up - you can thank me later. Plus, I needed some fresh whites and I've been in love with the Dunk Low black/gums for a while.

Oh, to keep it music-related, I upped some new tracks from Raekwon featuring Ghostface & Crooked I and Rihanna alongside The-Dream. Peep below.

Shouts to DrJays.com rep BossLadyNYC for the info that Classic Kicks was having a dope sale and major clearances. Now go out and do your part y'all!

Multiple Remixes

Girl I wanna hit that more than I wanna hit the lotto
-Juelz

Ohhh man, what a way to end the work day and head into the best day of the week.

Not only did Q-Tip recruit Busta Rhymes, Raekwon and Lil' Wayne for a remix to his banger "Renaissance Rap," but The-Dream scooped Officer Ross, Juelz Santana, and Ludacris to add to the original remix to "Rockin' That Shit" with Fabolous.

While Twitterville is filled with chatter about who the King (or Queen) of hip-hop internet blogging is, I'ma chill back and enjoy my small corner of the blogosphere and those that show love. I thought y'all might be interested in these two events here, especially my producer heads.

Stylin' On You, Politically

Morning, all. During my daily news reading, which consists mainly of the New York Times and Bloomberg plus my Blogger Reader, I came across this real cool article in the Times that compared Obama's style in the Oval Office with that of that other punk who used to be in the White House.

Obama's less formal, more relaxed style is a change for those accustomed to Bush's suit-and-tie tight-ass ways:

Thus did a rule of the George W. Bush Administration — coat and tie in the Oval Office at all times — fall by the wayside, only the first of many signs that a more informal culture is growing up in the White House under new management.

Don't get it twisted though, Obama is serious when it comes to getting the job done as President:

When the president invited Congressional leaders to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue last week to talk about his economic stimulus package, the session ran so long that Mr. Obama wound up apologizing to the lawmakers — even as he kept them talking, engaging them in the details of the legislation far more than was customary for Mr. Bush.

By the way, the economic stimulus package passed in the House of Representatives yesterday without a single Republican supporter. It's now making its way to the Senate for a vote.

Peep the rest of the article here at the NY Times to read about more of Obama's White House habits and his plans to change the Oval Office's decor. Enjoy!

More Criminology

I haven't listened to this yet 'cause Wu-Tang reps Raekwon and Ghostface's murderous raps are not work safe, LOL. Here's a cut off another album that may never see the light of day, Rae's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2.

Big props to Splash and DJ Envy for this, Enjoy!

Cold As Ice..

.. That's how it felt this morning waking up to get my ass to work. The roads were trecherous (sp?) to say the least, I don't even know what these so-called snow plows get paid for sometimes. But it's all gravy, I made it safely - and now I'm finna heat it up with some new muzak.

Lil' Wayne took a break from his rockstar crossover career to reunite with Juelz Santana, who does the hook on Weezy's newest called "Rap Cemetary." It's good to hear that the Martian hasn't completely forgot about hip-hop, but will that Weezy and Juelz collab project ever come to fruition? Just like Detox, my educated guess is "NO."

The King of Crunk Lil' Jon recently got in the booth with Game and Ice Cube for another of his signature amp-up bangers "Killas." I definitely gotta load this one up on the iTouch for when I hit the gym later.

Jim Jones reminds everyone that he has an album dropping soon and he hasn't forgotten his swagger with his latest "Turn My Swag On." Since when was it turned off, Jimmy?

And finally, producer AEON remixes Wale's "Good Girls," which debuted on Sirus XM over the weekend. You'd be buggin if you slept on this one.

Shouts to the homies Splash, The Kid Legend, Khal, and Shake & Meka for the trizacks, Enjoy!

Bloggin' That Isssssssh

Morning faithful readers, I got some random goodness for your blogging pleasure today.

Since my close homie J Mort is obsessed with The-Dream's newest single "Rockin That Shit," I know he's gonna be amped to hear this reeeeemix with the original radio killer, Fabolous. Now that's a serious collabo I can get into, Fab's flow is the truth.

We've also got a crazy type collab this morning off N.A.S.A.'s upcoming LP Spirit of Apollo dropping February 27. "The Mayor" features The Cool Kids, Ghostface, and Scarface - How's that for a multi-regional line-up?
Big shouts to Meka and Lowkey for the new tracks, Enjoy!

Back To Work

It never stops, so just keep on going.

I took part of the weekend off to study and relax, but I'm back at it Monday morning style. Let's recap some of the ish that went down during my brief hiatus.

Lil' Wayne will release his rock album Rebirth on April 7 and the first single "Prom Queen" produced by Tha Bizness leaked on Saturday. Even though I saw this coming once the Martian started to strum the guitar strings, I didn't expect him to put out an entire album of rock music. Since I'm open-minded, I'll give it an honest listen. And honestly, Weezy sounds awkward on this joint. I'm looking forward to see if he is capable of living up to the rock star persona he so often claims.

Now on to an album I'm actually looking forward to. A second cover and official track list for Jadakiss' upcoming LP The Last Kiss leaked courtesy of them NMC boys. 'Kiss is set to drop his 3rd album in early March.

1. Pain & Torture
2. Something Else ft. Young Jeezy
3. Things I’ve Been Through
4. Can’t Stop Me
5. Money and Jewelry
6. Smoking Gun ft. Jazmine Sullivan
7. Times Up ft. Barrington Levy
8. I Tried ft. Avery Storm
9. Searching ft. Sheek Louch
10. Two-Step ft. Pharrell Williams
11. Come and Get Me ft. Sheek Louch & S.I.
12. By My Side ft. Ne-Yo
13. Death Wish ft. Lil Wayne
14. Letter to B.I.G. ft. Faith Evans

And finally we've got music from the homie Wale, who recently came out of Twitteretirement after he and DJ Semtex had a little Twitter scuffle. This here is the DC native's remix to Euro group H.I.G. single "Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes."

Check the Cbox to the right for links to Wayne's "Prom Queen" and Wale's Euro remix, Enjoy!

Yeezy x Louis

Kanye recently unveiled 3 new colorways for his Louis Vuitton Don sneaker in Paris. The kicks may look plain in the photos but Yeezy used various materials in his design - a mix of rich and patent leathers and seude.

I posted the all-whites a lil while ago, but this is the first glimpse we've got of the 3 new ones - all-black, all-red and beige/black.

The thing that gets me about these kicks is that they are likely to retail around $600, which leads me to the question of who the hell is going to be able to afford them. I guess I'll have to settle for the Air Yeezy when it drops.

Personally, I think the all-reds are ugly as sin. The only solid sneakers I'd rock are all-white or all-black, I'm sorry. I do like the beige/black and can't wait to see some close-ups.

Pics below of the Louis Vuitton Don and designer Marc Jacobs (who is rocking some kind of dress/skirt/leggings outfit, yuck) courtesy of Nice Kicks and Eskay. What do you think?

[Edit: Found some close-ups]

Just One Of Those Days

Sup all. I'd love to say Happy Friday but mine has been anything but. You ever get that feeling that as soon as your day is started, you feel like it's not your day at all?

After two accidents caused bumper-to-bumper traffic driving to work that impeded me from my daily Dunkin Donuts ritual, I rolled up to the office about a half hour late. I'm not focused here at work, I've got a bunch of projects but can't get my mind right. Plus, a couple of my co-workers are getting on my nerves. Just let me be, damn it.

The only thing I've got goin for me is that it's Friday and the weekend is almost here. That reminds me, I'm hoping to see Mos Def at one of his 6 shows at the Blue Note NYC this weekend. Also, I peeped this flyer up top at Notes from a Different Kitchen for a Bob Marley celebration at the Blender Theater at Gramercy on what would be his born day February 6th. All true reggae heads would appreciate this show.

Oh, and this is my 300th post, it's a celebration bitches. I haven't hooked up new tracks in a lil bit, so here's a couple. Hopefully they'll help you have a better day than me, Enjoy!

Scooped me a fresh pair of Vandals yesterday, and I'm already fiend out for my next pair of kicks. I could get my fix from any of these various new releases from Nike - Air Force 1 White on Ice, Dunk Low Pro "Goofy Boy," Dunk Mid Pro, and Blazer "Ocean Pacifics."

Those White on Ice AF1's are somethin else with that transparent blue sole, I need to find me a pair ASAP. I'm so salty that Kix-Files sold out of size 12, damn!

Life Is A Dream Come True

Peeped this a couple days ago but didn't get to listen until last night coming home from my second round of Notorious.

DJ Skee threw together a compilation of various Charles Hamilton joints that he felt captured the essence of the young MC's "Hamiltonization" process.

I'm glad he included some of my personal favorites like "November 10th," "Do What You Love," and "It's" but there's a couple I would add to the list like "Stutter," "My Wonderful Pink Polo," and "Ambitions of Musicians."

The real gem here is one of Charles' newer tracks, "Most Likely To Succeed." It shows how talented he can be when he ain't joking around on a track, and that vocal sample is BANANAS. The title of this post is one of the lines from this track and I might even call it my favorite Hamilton track thus far.

But don't take my word for it, peep the download link and track list for yourself. Shouts to TSS for the link, Enjoy!

Mad Mullets

I Twittered pretty heavily last night watching the various Inaugural Balls (no Wanda Sykes) and one thing that irked the living shit out of me was Kanye's new 'do.

At the MTV Youth Ball, Yeezy resurrected what I hoped died in the 90's, that business-in-the-front but party-in-the-back phenomenon - the shag. Or, as us caucasians call it, the mullet.

Complex Mag and Miss Info got a kick out of Yeezy's ridiculous cut too, 'cause they and their readers took on the daunting task of compiling a history of the shag highlighting some of history's most disturbing do's.

I switched it up right quick to post some of the most incredibly unfashionable mullets from the past. Feel free to check out the history of the black mullet, including the likes of Alfonso Ribero, Theo Huxtable, Lionel Richie, Jermaine Jackson, Walter Payton and many many more at the Complex Blog and Miss Info's site.
And please, pray that Yeezy peeps the footage from last night and heads straight to the barber for a fresh edge-up.
